ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN DIPLOMAT THE AMERICAN POLICY IN THE SOUTH CAUCASUS WON’T UNDERGO CHANGES AFTER THE ELECTIONS IN THE U.S.

01.11.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “The main objective of my visit to the region was the request of the US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright”, stated today in Yerevan the Counselor to the US Secretary of State for Newly Independent States Steven Sestanovich following the negotiations with the President of Armenia Robert Kocharian.
Sestanovich noted that the visit was to consider the relations of the Unites States with Armenia and Azerbaijan before the upcoming US presidential elections. All the information will be submitted to the new US administration, he said.
The American diplomat declared that after the presidential elections in the USA the American policy in the South Caucasus will hardly undergo any serious changes. “For the last years we have formed a good basis in our relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan and I think that these relations will develop in future”, Sestanovich said. -0-
