23.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “The US House of Representatives pulled the Armenian Resolution out of the agenda under the pressure exerted by the US Administration. Thus, one of the main principles of the US democracy – division of branches of power – was violated, Ara Papian, Spokesman of the Armenian Foreign Ministry stated in an interview to Mediamax.
The Armenian diplomat stressed that thus the executive power of the United States has shouldered too much responsibility. “In case if the call of the US State Department on beginning Armeno-Turkish dialogue is not heard by Turkey the US State Department will take responsibility,” Ara Papian said.
He also did not exclude that the US Congress of the next convocation will manage to restart the discussion of the Armenian Resolution. “The way the Resolution was pulled out of the agenda the same way it can appear on the agenda of the new Congress”. –0–
