RUSSIA THINKS THE DISCUSSION OF THE ARMENIAN RESOLUTION IN THE HOUSE IS AN INTERNAL AFFAIR OF THE USA

Russia thinks the discussion of the Armenian Resolution by the U.S. House of Representatives is an internal affair of the USA and has no intention to compete with the United States on the issue, said Ambassador of Russia to Turkey Alexander Lebedev in reply to the question whether the issue will be discussed during the visit of the Russian prime minister to Turkey.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov will start his three-day official visit to Turkey on Monday, October 23.
On October 5 Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said he intends to ask his Russian counterpart Mikhail Kasyanov “to use Russia’s influence on Armenia for the latter to give up efforts aimed at adoption of the bill on recognition of the Armenian Genocide of 1915”.
The Russian State Duma officially recognized the fact of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 in 1995. -0-
