Armenia will have “emergency city”

On September 3, Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations marks the 20th anniversary of emergency situation system formation in the country.

At the Ministry-hosted celebratory event, the Emergency Situations Minister Armen Yeritsyan stressed the importance of the structure in elimination of the consequences of natural disasters, reduction of social and economic risks.

Yeritsyan pointed out multiple alterations the ministry underwent since last year. “Construction of an “emergency city” to locate Ministry subsidiaries is in progress, as well as that of a quakeproof center for catastrophe management,” the Minister said.

During the event, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stressed the importance of the Ministry in view of regional situation. The official urged to intensify efforts in elimination of natural disasters consequences as well as raise catastrophe awareness.

A number of Ministry officials were granted with awards extended by the Prime Minister, National Security Council, Armenian Police, National Security Service and Defense Ministry.
