US STATE SECRETARY URGED SPEAKER OF HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES THAT THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE BILL NOT TO BE PASSED

14.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. US State Secretary addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Dennis Hustert to urge that the bill on Armenian Genocide not to be passed, the Turkish Ambassador to Washington Baki Ilkin said during the press conference. The same statement was made by the US President Clinton during his meeting with the Speaker Hustart.
The Ambassador also said that the Armenian genocide bill might be brought to the floor of the House of Representatives on October 17, while adding that “it is hard to be optimistic regarding this issue.” –0–
