REPRESENTATIVE OF POLITICAL DEPARTMENT OF THE BUREAU OF DASHNAKTSOUTYUN PARTY HOPES THAT ARMENIAN RESOLUTION WILL BE PASSED IN HOUSE

13.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “A tremendous work is done for the Armenian Resolution to be passed by the House of Representatives and we do hope for the success,” Karo Armenian, a representative of the political department of the Bureau of Dashnaktsoutyun party said in his interview to MEDIAMAX. Mr. Armenian is the curator of the Armenian National Committee of America – the largest Armenian lobbing organization in the US.
Karo Armenian stated that the headquarters of the Armenian National Committee of America works very actively and that during the past decades the Armenian Diaspora of the US have made several attempts on recognition of the Armenian Genocide. “The fact that we reached obvious progress on this particular stage evidences that the Armenian Diaspora of the US managed to accumulate its experience and to transfer our resolution in this issue to the new generation of Armenians grown up in the US,” Mr. Armenian said.
Mr. Armenian informed that the Resolution will be passed by a simple majority of votes of the House members from the total number of 433 congressmen. According to Mr. Armenian, it is expected that at least 420 congressmen will take part in the discussions of the Resolution and more than 210 votes will be necessary for approval of the document. “Based on the information we receive from Congressional sources we may conclude that the necessary number of votes will be assured, Karo Armenian said. –0–
