12.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “I do not think that the Supreme Rada (parliament) of the Ukraine may recognize Armenia as an aggressor”, Ara Papian the Spokesman of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in his interview to MEDIAMAX.
During October 11 meeting took place in Kiev between the first Deputy Speaker of the Supreme Rada Victor Medvedchuk and members of the delegation of Azerbaijani Defence Ministry, the Azeri Defence Minister Safar Abiyev suggested the Supreme Rada to discuss the issue on recognizing Armenia as an aggressor. In his turn Medvedchuk promised Abiyev that the foreign relations committee of the Ukrainian parliament “will consider the possible elaboration of the position on this issue.”
Ara Papian said to MEDIAMAX that Armenia is not qualified as an aggressor in any of international documents, including the UN Security Council’s four resolutions on the Karabakh conflict. “All the documents speaks about the “local Armenian Armed Forces,” the Armenian diplomat clarified. –0–
