U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT HAS NO EVIDENCIES THAT RESTRICTION OF U.S. FLIGHTS FROM INCIRLIK AIRBASE IS OFFICIAL POSITION OF TURKEY

07.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “We are aware of statements about the possible reaction of the Turkish Government on Incirlik Air Base. However, we have no indications that the statements reflect the official position of the Turkish authorities, State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher said during the briefing.
The spokesman stressed that the U.S. State Department shares the concern of the Turkish Government about this situation formed around the discussion of the Armenian Resolution. “We have made very clear what our position is, and President Clinton, I think, made that quite clear to Turkish President Sezer as well,” Boucher said. The Spokesman also expressed hope that foundation of Turkish-U.S. partnership, will remain very strong long standing.–0–
