“WE HOPE THAT ARMENIAN RESOLUTION WILL BE ADOPTED BY THE US CONGRESS”, ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER SAID

05.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. “We hope that the decision of the Foreign Relations Committee of the US Congress on adoption of the Armenian Resolution will be followed by another one – adoption of this document by the US Congress and will be further undersigned by the US President, the Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian said in his interview to MEDIAMAX.
Oskanian underlined that despite the fact that the issue on the recognition of the Armenian genocide has always been the prior one for the foreign policy of the state, however “Armenia has never considered this issue as a precondition in the process of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations.”
The Armenian Foreign Minister also said that the “adoption of the Armenian Resolution will by no ways be an obstacle for establishment of Yerevan-Ankara relations and will contribute to the process of reconciliation as well as establishment of durable peace in the region.” –0–
