04.10.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. Armenia hopes that Turkey won’t take inadequate steps connected with the discussion of the “Armenian Resolution” in the U.S. Congress, stated today Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian at a press conference in Yerevan, commenting on the information of Turkish sources about Ankara’s intention to carry out trade and other sanctions against Armenia.
According to the Armenian Minister, if Turkey goes to such steps then it will undermine the possibility to normalize Armenian-Turkish relations even in a long-term perspective. At the same time, minister Oskanian didn’t exclude that in near future aggravation in Armenian -Turkish relations on a “moral-psychological level” is possible.
