US CONSULATE HAS DECLARED OF TOUGHENING MEASURES REGARDING ARMENIAN CITIZENS WISHING TO LEAVE FOR THE UNITED STATES

26.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The Consulate of the United States of America in Armenia has released a statement which says that each day the number of Armenian citizens wishing to leave for the United States increases. This is what the delay in receiving an interview to apply for a non-immigrant visa at the US Consulate is conditioned by, says the statement.
The US Consulate notes that many of the applicants they see each day “have been refused many times in the recent past”. Thus the Consulate declares that all the applicants “who have been refused a visa recently should not expect to be issued a visa in the future unless there has been a significant change in their living situation”.
The US Consulate also declared that it has made some changes in application policy. It is particularly noted in the statement that those Armenian citizens who have been refused two times within a six month period will not be permitted to apply again for at least six months. -0-
