Yeghishe Melikyan: No hope for an invitation from Armenian national team

Ex-defender of Armenia and Donetsk "Metallurg", Yeghishe Melikyan revealed details of his transition to "Goverlu-Zakarpattya", admitting that he refused Armenian citizenship for getting a Ukrainian passport.

"I can’t say anything extraordinary about the transition to " Zakarpattya ". At the meeting I trained with Armenian club “ Ulysses”. I signed a six months contract until summer. Apparently they were pleased with me, so the contract was extended until the end of the season, "he said. Melikyan noted that he did not hope to receive an invitation from the Armenian National team. “The point is that while playing in “Zare” in 2009 I decided to change my Armenian citizenship for Ukrainian. At that time I understood that I would no longer be able to play for Armenian National team. For five years I was continuously invited and played more than a dozen matches for Armenian national team. Perhaps it's time to give the platform to the youth. Honestly, I always sought to perform at the highest level, but first league is also interesting. However, still hoping to play in the Premier League. I came to "Zakarpattya” for this reason, said Yeghishe Melikyan, reports Analitika.at.ua .
