THE FORMAT OF NEGOTIATIONS ON KARABAKH CONFLICT SETTLEMENT NEEDS TO BE ENLARGED, DECLARED THE PRESIDENT OF RNK ARKADY GHUKASIAN

The interest of the international community in the peace settlement of the Karabakh problem forms favorable political background, declared the president of RNK Arkady Ghukasian, commenting upon the current stage of the Karabakh conflict settlement in the interview to Stepanakert “Azat Artsakh” paper.
Ghukasian said, that at the same time, as international mediation experience shows, the OSCE Minsk group and other organizations can only suggest certain ideas and variants of the conflict settlement, but in real the problem can be solved only in the process of direct negotiations between the sides of the conflict themselves.
According to Arkady Ghukasian, none of the agreements, achieved during the negotiations between Aliyev and Kocharian, can be final, unless it takes into account the position of Nagorno Karabakh.
The president of RNK is convinced that negotiations would be more productive in case of RNK’s involvement into the process of negotiation. “I know such a step will be very hard for the president of Azerbaijan, but the events will logically develop to this”, -stressed Arkady Ghukasian. -0-
