EUROPEAN COMMISSION ALLOCATES HUMANITARIAN AID TO ARMENIA, GEORGIA AND AZERBAIJAN

14.08.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The European Commission has decided to allocate its regular humanitarian aid in the amount of about 8 million Euro to support the most needy levels of population in 7 CIS states – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Moldavia, Russia and Ukraine.
These means will allow the NGOs to realize their projects in these countries during the nearest 12 months, reports Prime News quoting the Russian mass media. They are expected to concentrate the work on providing help first of all to the refugees and displaced persons.
Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia will receive means for betterment of the refugees condition, as well as for rendering first medical aid to rural population and vaccination of mothers and children.
The European humanitarian aid to the CIS countries started in 1993, in 1994-1999 the amount of that aid made 386 million Euro. -0-
