Google launches Gmail app for iOS devices

Google launched a new Gmail app for iOS devices: iPhones, iPads and iPods. But some hours later after the launch discovered that it contains a bug which broke notifications and caused users to see an error message.

The Official Google Blog said that they are working on a problem and soon the app can be used.

Google combined favorite features of users from the Gmail mobile web app and iOS into one app. Using the app users get alerted to new messages with push notifications and sounds, can upload photos, search emails and contacts. On iPad it is possible to read mail with split view.

There is a possibility to focus on important messages first with Priority Inbox and to organize your mail by archiving, labeling, starring, deleting and reporting spam.

Google had optimized the interface so users can perform common actions in Gmail with the lightest touch: pulling down inbox refreshes the mail, swiping right user can view labels without ever leaving inbox

The Gmail app is available to download from the App Store. It works on all devices running iOS 4 and up.
