Russia and Azerbaijan have concluded a treaty on cooperation, friendship and mutual security, providing for not taking steps and actions that can weaken each other’s security. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, Russian ambassador to Baku Nikolay Ryabov said when commenting on Azerbaijan’s possible accession to the NATO. “Consequently, the issue needs serious research,” – he noted. At the same time the ambassador reported that Moscow has not received an official statement of the Azeri party. In N. Ryabov’s words, it is thereupon hard to make assessments yet, “as much will depend on the terms of Azerbaijan’s accession to the NATO.” “However, we suppose it is not an issue of today or tomorrow,” – the Russian diplomat added.
