11.07.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The units of Air-defense and Air Forces of Armenia will take part in the “Fighting Cooperation-2000” joint tactical exercises of the member countries of CIS on air-defense with battle gun-fire, planned on August 21-26 in the firing ground of the Air Forces – “Ashuluk”- in the Astrakhan region.
As the deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Air Forces on questions of United system of air-defense of the member countries of CIS, Lieutenant-General Yuri Bondariov informed to the Agency of military news, the actions of forces on duty of air-defense on illegal crossing of the frontier will be worked out during the training. In the training will take part the sub-units of the Air Forces and Air-defense of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Ukraine. The total number of the personnel participating in the training will exceed 1000 persons with 100 units of various military equipment and 60 aircraft.
The exercises are going to be headed by the chairman of the Coordinating committee on questions of Air-defense at the Council of Ministers of CIS countries, the Commander-in-Chief of the Air Forces of Russia, General of army Anatoly Kornukov. -0-
