11.07.2000, MEDIAMAX, YEREVAN. The regular meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be held, more likely, in August 2000 in the Crimea, within the frameworks of the unofficial summit of the leaders of the CIS countries. While the consecutive meeting of Kocharian-Aliyev may be held in September in New York. The foreign minister of Armenia, Vardan Oskanian stated this today at a press conference in the National press-club.
The Armenian minister stated that during the last meeting to the region the co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group didn’t present any new suggestions or ideas for the Karabakh conflict settlement. Oskanian said that in the near future the mediators are not going to make new suggestions. “They hope that in the course of the direct meetings of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan some new ideas will arise, on the basis of which the mediators will hence work”, said the head of the ministry of foreign affairs of Armenia. At the same time he didn’t exclude the possibility that the co-chairmen of the Minsk Group may try to create some “combined” variant from all their suggestions, made during the last years. However, minister Oskanian said that Armenia will insist that in that variant no preliminary conditions were put forward, and the settlement was realized by package and not by stage-by-stage principle. -0-
