A member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) commented on the statement of Orinats Yerkir party leader Artur Baghdasaryan, suggesting approx. 30000 people became affiliated with his party.“Armenia’s population might as well total 6-7 million, if the declared number of supporters at each political party is true,” Artak Zakaryan said.
As Zakaryan noted, such statements can be viewed as an attempt to recruit as many supporters as possible on before the start of electoral race.
“RPA, however, doesn’t aim at mass recruitment. The party already lists 130000 members with most of them actively engaged in party work,” Zakaryan said.
