Danger to Azerbaijan is posed not by Heydar Aliyev’s illness, but the current regime in the country. Leader of opposition National Independence of Azerbaijan Party Etibar Mamedov commented on the abrupt aggravation of the state of health of the country president this way. In his words, as reported by “Arminfo” agency referring to “Turan” agency, it is necessary to overcome the regime. Another representative of Azeri opposition forces – secretary of the Democratic Party Aydin Guliyev – considers Aliyev is no longer able to govern the country. In his opinion, opposition should use all opportunities to prevent possible dangerous trends and to provide for public security. At the same time he emphasized that the political struggle should not exceed constitutional limits. Guliyev supposed that in spite of the yesterday’s health crisis, Aliyev would nevertheless put his candidacy at the coming presidential election. Meanwhile, head of the public and political department of the Azeri presidential administration Ali Hasanov said the leader’s state of health has normalized that “he is expected to set about fulfilling his duties already today.” Thus, he denied opposition statements on incapacity of the country president, adding Aliyev was not expected to take a leave of absence to have rest or take cure.
