Gorayq village of Syunik province hosted Kinderwall experimental project aimed to increase children’s computer awareness in June, 2011.
In the framework of the project two computer terminals were installed in the village of Gorayq, to provide access to educational websites for local children.
As project initiator Albert Poghosyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, though no comprehensive statistics has been conducted yet, studies show that children mostly visited Armenian-language websites, namely Wikipedia encyclopedia in Armenian.
Terminals have touchscreens and iron keyboards and will work 24 hours. Up to 2 Megabit internet connection will be provided by VivaCell-MTS.
Though Mr. Poghosyan intends to extend the project to other villages, it seems less feasible for lack of funding.
Project initiator further noted that USD 350 000 would be enough for installation of 2 terminals in each village.
This project was first implemented and tested by Professor Mitra in a number of villages in India and proved to open amazing and new perspectives for the process of education.
