AZERI MEMBERSHIP IN FIFA CEASED

The membership of the Football Federation of Azerbaijan in the FIFA is ceased for an indeterminate period of time. The measure is due to a crisis persisting in the Azeri club football for several years. “Having analyzed the recent events in the Azeri football, – a FIFA official press release says, – in particular the severe pressure put on the football by external forces, and having undertaken some attempts to influence the situation, the FIFA committee for state of emergency resolved to cease the membership of the Football Federation of Azerbaijan in our organization. The decision comes into effect immediately and right up to new directions.” As reported by “De Facto” agency, the disqualification of the Football Federation of Azerbaijan raises the issue of the national team participation in elimination meetings of the European Championship.
