PACE RAPPORTEUR TO GO TO KARABAKH DURING NEXT VISIT TO REGION

The PACE will not discuss the report on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, to be based on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe rapporteur Terry Davis’ visit to the region of the confrontation, before the end of the year. As reported by Azeri media, T. Davis said at a meeting with journalists in Baku. Meanwhile, he reported he was going to visit the region again, to all appearance, to go to Karabakh. In the rapporteur’s words, the report being arranged will be discussed by the PACE Committee on Political Affairs only upon the completion of the presidential election in Azerbaijan and parliamentary election in Armenia, after which it will be included in the PACE agenda. The report will reflect the work done for the conflict settlement and issues, the solution of which seems to be important. Answering questions of journalists Terry Davis pointed out that along with reference to the OSCE Minsk group efforts the report would also assess the group activities.
