ANC rep opposes cooperation with Prosperous Armenia

A representative of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc, Democratic Fatherland party leader opposes the Congress’ cooperation with Prosperous Armenia coalition party.

At news conference in Yerevan, Petros Makeyan expressed distrust for Prosperous Armenia electoral activities, noting that the party may “pull an Artur Baghdasaryan” in an attempt to garner some opposition votes.

“Despite ANC leadership’s mulling cooperation with Prosperous Armenia, Democratic Fatherland’s position on the issue remains unchanged,” Makeyan concluded.

At 2008 presidential elections, Orinats Yerkir opposition party leader Artur Baghdasaryan, 3rd for the number of votes gained, supported the ruling party candidate Serzh Sargsyan, stirring major public discontent as well as rumours of a conspiracy with the authorities.
