Armenian-Iranian ties in energy field are aimed at maintaining energy security in the country, according to Armenian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.
“We are trying to resolve the energy security issue in our country,” Armen Movsisyan told a press conference on Feb. 16.
According to him, all the programs implemented jointly with the Iranian side should be considered in this context only, particularly those on gas and oil pipeline, construction of Meghri hydropower plant and Iran-Armenia railway.
Dwelling on Meghri hydropower plant construction, Energy Minister noted that in the framework of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to Armenia a relevant document was signed stipulating launch of its construction in second half of 2012.
