Secretary of the Armenian National Security Council (NSC) Artur Baghdasaryan and Director-General of European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union (Frontex) Ilkka Laitinen signed an agreement on border control cooperation.
Laitinen noted that “it was a short and quite effective process.”
“Basing on the agreement we will soon establish an action plan on border control benefitting the interests of both parties,” he added.
Laitinen mentioned three factors favoring the success of this initiative, namely political support to the project by the Armenian authorities, a clear vision and strategy of border control in Armenia and readiness of the international structures like UN and EU to back Armenia in this issue.
