Armenian foreign ministry considers Azeri media statements that relations between Washington and Yerevan became slightly cool in the light of the events in Iraq groundless. As press secretary of the Armenian foreign ministry Dzyunik Aghajanian told “Arminfo” agency, the Armenian-American relations rest on more than a firm basis. In her words, Armenia has taken a balanced stand in the Iraqi issue and Washington and Yerevan held intensive negotiations recently. As of the possible impact of the allegedly cooled down Armenian-American relations on Washington’s giving financial aid to Armenia and the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, as noted by D. Aghajanian, the proportions of the US aid are conditioned by the US direct interests in Armenia. The process of settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict is a contiguity point for the interests of US, Russia and Europe and in this case speaking of any negative influence on the peacemaking process is only a misevaluation of the situation, the foreign ministry press secretary emphasized.
