Leader of New Times party negatively assesses participation of opposition forces in the parliamentary race, noting that elections are preliminarily planned by authorities.
According to Aram Karapetyan, opposition only legitimizes the actions of the authorities through running for parliament. The party leader sharply slams particularly the former oppositionists’ joining the electoral list of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, citing Artashes Geghamyan as an example.
The head of the party noted formation of serous majority in the parliament with nominal representation of the opposition as the authorities’ key goal.
“These elections will be ‘elections of money’,” he said.
Dwelling on refusal of New Times party to run for parliament, Mr. Karapetyan said, “Our decision has solely political reasons, there are no financial, humanitarian or economic problems,” he said.
