RA Ombudsman refutes information on severe beating of policeman by his office employee

RA Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan refutes Armenian newspaper –circulated information on his office employee being imprisoned for severe beating of policeman.

According to him, in reality, charges were made on suspicion of traffic rules violation. “The article spreading deliberate misinformation suggests there was a third party to order this specific content,” the Ombudsman noted, adding that misbehavior of his office employee would not do credit to him.

Armen Harutyunyan expressed his views on 2-year sentence for Levon Avagyan charged with indecent acts towards minors. “Such acts deserve severe punishment. Still, Ombudsman is entitled to raising his voice in protest, should he consider the punishment to be overly strict.”
