CYPRIAN PARLIAMENTARIANS AGAINST CLOSING OF MELKONIAN ARMENIAN LYCEUM

The House of Representatives of the Cyprian parliament unanimously spoke against the decision by the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) to close the Melkonian Armenian Lyceum in Nicosia. As reported by the Nicosian media, the parliamentarians called to declare the Lyceum a historical monument. The parliament’s resolution says that the Melkonian Lyceum is not only the part of the cultural and historical heritage of Armenians but also of the Cyprian people. To remind, the AGBU administration arrived at the decision to close the Lyceum in June 2005.
