TURKISH AMBASSADOR TO FRANCE AGREED ON FORMATION OF INDEPENDENT COMMITTEE FOR STUDYING ARMENIAN GENOCIDE ISSUE

The leftist Socialist party of France is not on the whole against the admission of Turkey to the European Union, however before that Ankara should settle the issue of the recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, as reported by Zaman Turkish newspaper, party leader, former foreign minister of France Pierre Moscovici stated addressing the Parisian Meeting. In his words, to get the consent of the French people for the admission to the EU Turkey should solve three urgent problems she faces: to provide protection of atheism, to reduce the power of the armed forces in the country and settle the issue of the Armenian Genocide recognition. At that Moscovici welcomed Turkish Ambassador Uluc Ozulker’s consent on formation of independent committee for studying the Armenian Genocide issue.
