The Armenian Genocide Documentation Project of Gomidas Institute, situated in London, announces a new work, United States Official Records on the Armenian Genocide in 1915-1917. The systematic documentary publication, to be out on May 28, is comprised of hundreds of letters and reports on the Genocide of Armenians written by American officials in Ottoman Turkey that tell about massacres and persecution of the Armenian population by the Young Turk Government. Specifically it includes reports from US Consulates in Trebizond, Aleppo, Beirut, Damascus, Baghdad, Adana and other towns of the region. Many relate the Genocide of Armenians in explicit terms. There are letters, written mainly by American missionaries and private citizens, which provide further details of those tragic events. The reports from the United States Embassy in Constantinople also provide further insights into the American Government’s understanding of the Genocide while the killings were in progress. As reported by Armenian sources of Europe, the preface to the book is written by U.S. Congressmen Joe Knollenberg (R-MI) and Frank Pallone (D-NJ).
