JOINT ARMENIAN STANCE IN ACHIEVING INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION OF ARMENIAN GENOCIDE IN OTTOMAN TURKEY BEING WORKED OUT

An international scientific and practical conference titled “The Genocide Factor in Normalization of the Armenian-Turkish Relations” opened in Yerevan today. Leading genocide experts from Armenia, Russia, the US, Israel, Germany, France and other countries participate in the forum organized by the World Armenian Congress (WAC). Participants of the conference set about working out a joint all-Armenian stance in the cause of achievement of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, which will be based on historical facts and international legal norms. In the words of WAC Chairman Ara Abrahamian, who addressed the conference participants, Turkey itself should recognize the Genocide and talks with it should be based on the “the package” principle, which also includes Ankara refusing from “unilateral support of the extremist posture of Azerbaijan on the Nagorno Karabakh problem.” The conference participants will also consider the opportunity of forming a special expert commission for a comprehensive study of the question.
