The Military Museum in Athens hosted an event on April 22 dedicated to the 97th anniversary of Armenian Genocide, attended by top officials, foreign diplomats and military figures who came to commemorate the victims of 1915 atrocities.
Speaking at the event, deputy speaker of the Greek parliament Grigoris Niotis said Turkey’s denial of the Genocide hinders establishment of regular ties between the countries of the region.
“Turkey must recognize the Armenian Genocide not to re-open old wounds, but to fulfill its historic duty, which is binding for the key EU principles, normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey and opening of the border,” he said.
Niotis further spoke about Karabakh conflict resolution reiterating Greece's support to peaceful and final settlement of the conflict, Azad Or paper reports.
