Vermont Republican Governor James H. Douglas issued a proclamation marking the 89-th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. As reported by the Armenian National Committee of America, Vermont became the 37-th US State to recognize the Armenian Genocide, joining with the Armenian American community and all people of good conscience in honoring the memory of 1,5 million of Armenians killed and tortured by order of the Young Turks government at the beginning of the 20-th century.
