A skirmish, in result of which dozens of people got physical injuries, took place between the native Armenian and Georgian youth in the Georgian town of Akhalkalaki on May 28. As reported by Yerkir.am, while members of different Armenian youth organizations were celebrating the day of the First Armenian Republic native Georgians tried to hamper the action. The policemen and representatives of the local authorities as well as some deputies tried to stop the scuffle. One of them shot at chairman of the Youth Sports and Culture Union of Javakhetia Vahagn Chalakhian and fortunately missed. V. Chalakhian and his supporters were detained, kept in custody for two days and then released. The situation in Akhalkalaki is relatively stable at present. Further activities of the law-enforcers are not disclosed.
