Armenians detained in Bulgaria over murder plot

Bulgaria’s General Directorate for Fight against Organized Crime foiled a contract murder plot in Sofia during a special police operation, Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov said.

According to FOCUS News Agency, after a ten-day investigation and preparatory works, on the grounds of enough evidence materials, the special unit set to the realization of the operation.

Four people were arrested – one Montenegrin and three Armenian nationals.

The man, who ordered and organized the murder, is a Montenegrin citizen. In 2004 he was arrested with 54 kilos of dry cannabis, while in 2005 with 4 kilos of heroin. He served a sentence in the prison in Sofia and in 2006 he was imposed a ten-year ban to enter the territory of Bulgaria.

The Montenegrin used to stay in Bulgaria under a fake identity, Minister Tsvetanov informed.

The Montenegrin had supplied a gun with silencer. Authorities found the weapon and a photo of the victim, a businessman from Sofia, who has a criminal record for fraud.

Police have evidence to prove the organization of a contract murder for BGN 30,000.

Three Armenian nationals were arrested, one of whom is reportedly wanted for illegal arms possession and fraud in Armenia.
