AZERI SPEAKER AGAINST ARMENIAN OFFICERS PARTICIPATION IN NATO EXERCISES IN BAKU

At yesterday’s sitting of the Azeri Parliament Speaker of Milli Mejlis Murtuz Aleskerov came against participation of Armenian officers in Cooperative Best Effort -2004 NATO exercises to be held in the country territory September 13. As reported by Azeri media, he stated that “the NATO will never solve the Karabakh issue, the Alliance works for creating a military base here.” In M. Aleskerov’s words, the foreign policy department of the country should deal with the issue in question seriously. “Negotiations with the NATO leaders should be held, however I do not consider holding military exercises here is expedient at present,” the Azeri Parliament leader stated.
