If Armenian servicemen had joined the NATO exercises in Baku, it might negatively tell on Karabakh conflict settlement efforts in the course of the coming meeting of the Armenian and Azeri Presidents at the Summit of the CIS heads in Astana. Press Secretary of the Azeri Foreign Ministry Mehtin Mirza stated in an interview with BBC Azerbaijan service. In his words, Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov has already presented the mentioned position of Azerbaijan on the canceling of NATO exercises in the country during the meeting with the NATO Secretary General. M. Mirza noted that the Azeri party had earlier stated many times that in no circumstances will it provide entry visas to the Armenian officers, willing to participate in the NATO exercises.
