In the course of the meeting of Foreign Ministers of Georgia and Azerbaijan Salome Zurabishvili and Elmar Mamedyarov in Tbilisi the issue of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict was also touched upon. Asked at a press conference following the meeting a question whether it is true that Georgia has suggested its mediation in the settlement of the Armenian-Azeri conflict, Azeri Foreign Minister stated Baku would welcome participation of any country, including Georgia, in the settlement. In her turn head of the foreign policy department of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili stated that Tbilisi is interested in soonest settlement of the Karabakh conflict. In her words, solution of the Karabakh conflict “will contribute to the stability of the entire region” just like settlement of conflicts on the territory of Georgia.
