The consequences of hostilities in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict region will be extremely grave both for Armenia and Azerbaijan, Secretary of the Defense Council under the Armenian President, Defense Minister Serge Sargsian told the Public TV Company of Armenia yesterday. “With any outcome of possible war, even the most favorable for Armenia, we have no desire to be involved in military operations. War means casualties. Even if they are 1 to 7 in our favor as it was in 1992-1994, all the same, it will not console us. War demands huge expenses, postponement of the settlement of social problems, limitation of freedoms, after all. Armenia will have to wage the war only if the Azeri party advances to the attack. In this case, I assure, we will give an adequate response, one which will for many years kill Azerbaijan’s desire to fight,” the Armenian Defense Minister stated.
