AES-Telasi American energy company, which owns the power grids of Tbilisi, has refused the purchase of 125 MW electric energy from Russia and resumed its import from Armenia (60 MW). As reported by “Arka” agency, the company press service reported. The decision is due to State Energy System of Georgia Ltd., which controls energy flows in the republic, failing to provide the supplies to Tbilisi. March 10 AES-Telasi company concluded a contract via mediation of Bingfield company to buy Russian electric power, but due to being stolen in the Georgian territory it was never received in Tbilisi in full. The two companies – AES-Telasi and the State Energy System of Georgia – were actively engaged in a week’s negotiations on providing the Russian energy supplies to Tbilisi, but it did not have any outcomes. As a result a decision was made to resume the import of electric energy from Armenia, which had been interrupted a week ago.
