Having drawn 1:1 at the final stage of the elimination competition of the European Championship in age category under 19 with the youth team of Azerbaijan, the Armenian team reached the next lap of the tournament. The only goal, as well as those three during the elimination matches, was scored by Edgar Manucharian. As a result, the Azerbaijani team dropped out, having lost two matches with the Macedonian and French teams. It should be reminded that the combined teams of Armenia and Azerbaijan had not met in the football field after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
