BSEC summit inappropriate format for Karabakh issue, vice-FM told Baku

On June 26, Istanbul hosted a summit of Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), with Deputy Foreign Minister Ashot Hovakimyan heading Armenian delegation.

In his speech, Mr. Hovakimyan briefed on the organization’s path for the past 20 years and Armenia’s role in BSEC activities.

In response to Azerbaijani President’s unfounded accusations against Armenia, vice minister said, “According to BSEC basic documents, the organization must maintain the framework of the economic mandate without transforming into a platform for political discussions and accusations. BSEC summit is an inappropriate place for discussions on Nagorno Karabakh conflict, with OSCE Minsk Group being the only internationally recognized format for the issue.
