VERKHNI LARS CHECK-POINT TEMPORARILY RESUMED WORK

Verkhni Lars check-point at the Russian-Georgian border temporarily resumed work Sunday. Hundreds of vehicles passed through it within a few hours. As Regnum news agency correspondent was informed about it in the Frontier Troops Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. It should be reminded that Verkhni Lars was closed September 15 due to the tragic events in Beslan town of North Ossetia. This caused stoppage of thousands of cars, leaving Russia not only for Georgia, but also for Armenia. It should be noted that among those heading for Armenia was a vehicle with fuel for recharging the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. It should also be mentioned that as stated by Armenian President Robert Kocharian at a press briefing October 9, the problem is in focus of his attention and was discussed with Russian leader Vladimir Putin many times.
