AZERBAIJAN CAN DETAIN ALL CARGOES FROM OTHER STATES ARRIVING IN GEORGIA VIA ITS TERRITORY

Over a thousand of carriages are standing idle at the Azeri-Georgian border on the way to Georgia at the moment. Azerbaijan can detain all the cargoes from other states arriving in Georgia through its territory, Azeri first vice-Premier Abbas Abbasov stated on Monday. “Unfortunately”, there exist some facts proving that the cargoes, especially mineral oil, which are transited via the Azeri territory, are destined for Armenia, he noted. Abbasov also added that to prevent the cargo transit to Armenia he held meetings with Georgian Prime Minister and Security Council Secretary last week. To note, Azerbaijan has been imposing economic blockade on Armenia for more than ten years after the Azeri government launched hostilities against the Armenians of Nagorno Karabakh, who separated from Azerbaijan according to a soviet law acting at that moment.
