TRIAL OF “KARABAKH PARTISANS” FINISHED IN AZERBAIJAN

During the trial some of the accused did not deny they were trained in Pankisi, whoever, none of them allegedly took part in fighting in Chechnya. The motive for creation of the group is partisan activities in Nagorno Karabakh. 20 machine-guns, 2 pistols, three radio stations, bullets etc. were discovered. On the case of the group activities 21 young men are accused of forming an illegal military formation, illegal bearing and storage of firearms (articles 279.1 and 220 of Azerbaijan Criminal Code). The Public Prosecutor is expected to speak out December 7.
Meanwhile, the Islamist network has penetrated into Azerbaijan from the North Caucasus rather long ago and the question of creation of a partisan group to move it to Nagorno Karabakh has been discussed at some Azeri Internet forums for two and more years. The initiators of the discussion are people, who are tied with the so-called Fund of People Support to Army.
