The financial police of Georgia is holding a special operation in Vakhtangisi Georgian village next to the Georgian-Azeri border. As the Ministry of Finance of Georgia told Novosti Russian news agency, the police has withdrawn a contraband cargo of 3 million lari (some $1.5 million). The local population of Azeri origin shows resistance to the police and has encircled the Ministry special element. The police had to make several preventive shots in the air. No victims of the incident were reported.
