SPECIAL STRUCTURE FOR JAVAKHETIA SHOULD BE FORMED, S. SEYRANIAN CONSIDERS

“We wish Armenia and Georgia could carry out in Javakhetia programs and policy, which would prevent the third forces from transforming the problems available in the region in their own interests”, member of the supreme body of Dashnaktsutyun party Spartak Seyranian stated in his interview with Aravot Armenian newspaper. The resolution of the 8-th congress of ARF Dashnaktsutyun suggested that a special structure for Javakhetia issues be formed in Armenia. When commenting on the fate of the resolution, S. Seyranian said the party is preparing a package of proposes on the issue at present. “Similar bodies exists in Ukraine, France, Turkey and Russia, that is in the countries, which have numerous Diaspora”, he noted adding that Georgia is not likely to have any problems with such a structure. “On the contrary, with the help of such a structure we see the realization of joint programs with Georgia.” At the same time S. Seyranian noted that respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia does not mean that we should shut our eyes to the discrimination policy pursued towards the Armenian population of Javakhetia by the Georgian leadership. “Armenia must think about the problems of its compatriots”.
