NOT TO SUBJECT PROGENY TO COMPLEX OF REVENGE “DRAW GAME” NEEDED IN KARABAKH CONFLICT, VLADIMIR KAZIMIROV CONSIDERS

Not to subject the descendants to the complex of revenge a “draw game” is needed for the Karabakh conflict settlement, Russian Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group in 1992-1996 Vladimir Kazimirov said in his interview placed on Yerkir.am website. In his words there should be neither winners nor beaten in this prolonged conflict. The developments in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Nakhichevan and Nagorno Karabakh cannot be “replayed” without blood. “However the soonest resolution of the conflict should imply the liberation of the territories seized during the battled outside Nagorno Karabakh. The smell of oil is unremovable but it must not determine the fate of the whole region”, Vladimir Kazimirov noted. He expressed assurance that in case of resuming of military operations not only Russia but also all the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs will toughen their positions. For example Mr. Atkinson has already outlined the stand the CE will assume. When commenting on the stand of Russia’s representatives during the PACE discussions of the resolution on Nagorno Karabakh, the diplomat noted that the Russian parliamentarians in PACE are not instructed by the government. Many things depend on their awareness, “literacy” and understanding of the issue discussed. However the Russian political circles are well aware of the Karabakh conflict and Russia’s role in its settlement obliged them to be active and objective but they did not have to defend the interests of Armenia as the Armenian parliamentarians were also present at the sitting and it was their responsibility. “However I have already criticized the Russian diplomats for their passivity and inability to defend their own interests. But I did it in Moscow and not “for export”, Vladimir Kazimirov resumed.
